There are three new French wines available on the BottlesXO app – one red, one white and one rosé, starting at just ¥95 and just in time for the summer!
Read on to find out about each bottle, the Marrenon winery that made them and why we’re so excited to have these brand new bottles in our selection.
The Luberon Classique Rouge (¥95) is a deep ruby red wine with an intense, elegant nose of blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry. It’s full, round and balanced on the mouth.
The Luberon Classique Blanc (¥95) is a brilliantly nuanced and roundly structured white wine with an intense, fruity nose of apricot and pear.
Finally the Luberon Classique Rosé (¥105) is a luminous pink rosé with subtle flavors and aromas of grapefruit, rose and cherry morello. It’s vivid, fresh and balanced – a truly perfect summer bottle.
The southernmost of the ‘satellite’ appellations of the Rhône valley, Luberon’s wines are influenced by its closeness to the Mediterranean. This imparts a hot, sunny climate and gives its wines a distinctive depth and boldness – it is also what makes the region one of France’s most breathtakingly diverse when it comes to plants and wildlife.
The Marrenon vineyards in Luberon, France
The area has also long been associated with the ‘Left Bank’ artists and intellectuals like Samuel Beckett, Ernest Hemmingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald and is also the cradle of French perfume, home to breath-taking fields of lavender that not only give the area dramatic flashes of purple color but produce some of the world’s most enchanting, luxurious scents.
The Marrenon winery itself began with a cuveé created for Petula Garcia who, in 1966, inherited the Marrenon house in the Luberon mountains. Today the Marrenon vineyards cover over 7,600 hectares of land in the Luberon and Ventoux appellations and function as a co-operative, owned by a united 1,200 winemakers in the area.
